It’s been a good week for Atlus as it was revealed that Catherine has sold better than any previous title for them in its first week of release.

Atlus are the company behind popular series’ such as SMT: Persona and Trauma Centre, but so far Catherine has captured the imagination of gamers more than any other game Atlus have produced.

While sales figures for the game aren’t yet available, Tim Pivicny has said that “Catherine has exceeded our wildest expectations.”

It seems like the mature tone of the game has attracted a lot of gamers who usually wouldn’t play this genre of game.

We’re still waiting on an official release date for Catherine here in the UK although rumours seem to be pointing towards November 2011.
