Ecolibrium Receives Big Update
Ecolibrium, the free ecological simulator for the PS Vita, has received a big update today with new content being added to the game.
The update includes a new set of challenges, one new ecosystem which can be won by completing the new set of challenges, two new ecosystems which can be purchased with ecopoints, and four new families of animals – all of which can have its most basic members unlocked by completing the corresponding challenge.
While the game is free to play, packs of tokens which are exchanged for animals and plants can be bought to make your ecology more diverse.
Ecolibrium is available to download for free from the PS Store on the PS Vita.
PS Vita Specs Announced
Sony have revealed the specs for the upcoming PS Vita and they absolutely blow the 3DS out of the water.
The PS Vita will have 512MB of RAM as well as 128MBS of VRAM compared to 64MB of RAM and 4MB of VRAM on the 3DS.
The PS Vita will also have applications that let users log into popular social networking sites such as Facebook, Foursquare, Skype and Twitter.

If Sony can find the right launch price to compete with the 3DS the battle could be over very quickly.
PS Vita Due For A 2012 Release
It looks like Blockbuster were wrong after all as Sony has now confirmed an early 2012 release date for the PS Vita in Europe and America.
Japan will be the only region that will receive the PS Vita in 2011 – December to be precise.
This was all confirmed by Sony’s Executive Vice President Kazuo Hirai who said that this wasn’t a delay but it gives Sony more time to work on launch titles. Some believe that the lack of launch titles for the 3DS has been a major reason for the low hardware sales. This is a mistake Sony are obviously looking to avoid.
Kazuo Hirai also responded to those asking if the PS Vita launch price will be lowered to answer the recent 3DS price cut.
“We packed so much into the device and made it very affordable. There is no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price.”
PS Vita UK Release Date Leaked?
A recent advert from Blockbuster UK seems to indicate that the PS Vita will be available on October 28th.
While the advert hasn’t yet been confirmed as being legitimate this release date does go along with earlier reports of an autumn release for the PS Vita.
This would give Sony plenty of time to market the PS Vita before Christmas which is obviously a huge selling period.
PS Vita Could Be Out This Autumn
The internet is abuzz with the rumour that the PS Vita could be released as soon as this autumn.
This is all based off a press release for Supremacy MMA which was titled “Supremacy MMA Takes the Fight to the Streets with PlayStation Vita This Fall”. This could just be a speculative date or perhaps we will all get the chance to have a PS Vita in our hands within a matter of months.
This will ignite a fresh round of handheld wars between Nintendo and Sony. Sony could see this as their chance to overtake Nintendo in the handheld market after disappointing sales of the 3DS.
