PS Vita Playable Soon

The PS Vita was announced last month during E3 and it will be playable to the public next month at Gamescom.

Gamescom is to be held in Cologne, Germany from August 17th to the 21st.

Originally it was believed that the PS Vita would be first playable to the public during the Tokyo Game Show in September but in an act of axis aggression it looks like the Germans will get there first.

If you are German (in which case my apologies for the WWII reference) or fancy making the trip over to check out the PS Vita for yourself then you can get tickets directly from the Gamescom website.

PS Vita Will Match PS3 In Software Production

The PS Vita will match the PS3 in the amount of games produced for each platform according to Sony’s Head of Worldwide Studios Suhei Yoshida.

“We are doing about the same number of titles [on Vita as on PS3] so that means a lot. One of the things we didn’t do to well to support PSP was that right after PSP came out we moved on to working on the PS3 launch titles.”

With many gamers seeming quite apathetic towards Nintendo’s launch of the Wii U, Sony may feel that the PS Vita will allow them to regain some of the ground they had lost over both Nintendo and Microsoft.

The PS Vita is expected to be released in Q4 of 2011 and is available to preorder at Amazon from £229.99 or £279.99 with 3G.
